Rachel started to work with taxes in 1978 in Honolulu, Hawaii. After several years advertising in Mid-Week, she had enough clients to set up an office for the tax season of January to April each year. In 1988, she set up office at 1040 South King Street and began a career in taxes and accounting only, giving up her job at Daiei and Sheraton Hawaii. In 1988, Rachel went to the University of Hawaii Manoa Campus to complete her bachelor’s degree to qualify to take the Certified Public Accounting Test. She graduated in 1993 with a B.S. in Accounting and became an Enrolled Agent in 1997. After moving to her office on Koapaka Street, she decided to advertise to expand her clientele. The advertisement included the jingle “Good Old Reliable Rachel” with Rachel singing the tune. The response was great and her business expanded.
